SCOUG's April Meeting - Hands On Home Networking

This month's presentation topic is from a novice's perspective, and includes real-world examples and experiences. It's not to be missed!

OS/2 Help Desk and Networking SIG

They both meet the first Sunday of the month, 2 PM, in Science room 203 at Chapman University. Join them!

Dates of Interest

Presidents Message

Elections and great presentations - Tony covers the events of SCOUG's March general meeting in his president's message this month.

Election Results

In a vote of confidence, all of SCOUG's incumbent board members were reelected by a landslide. You can contact each of them by email.

Discoveries - Backups

This article discusses the hardware and software basics of system backup (not just for OS/2), and reveals the fate of an old favorite, BackMaster.

Tidy HTML

Last month Virginia Hetrick gave SCOUG members one of the finest crash courses in writing HTML that anyone has ever seen.

DOWNLOAD!

WarpZilla is now up to version 0.9.9. Steve Wendt has some good tips about it, there's a video driver fix for it, and a new version of a script to use WarpIn to install it. Where else would you turn for all this, and more? Download links you to the latest in OS/2.

A Hearty Thank You

SCOUG's CD of the Month is always a hit. We thank Rollin White for years of service and Larry Tawa for taking over the project.

Dear Mr. Know-It-All

So you've just tried to install a Java update, and the Feature Installer has failed. You're out on a limb without a parachute, right? Take heart! Mr. Know-It-All - like Superman - is here to save the day.

A Watcom Installation Compendium

The Open Watcom project gives OS/2 users a powerful C/C++ compiler and last month Harry Chris Motin talked the entire SCOUG audience through the download and installation of this great resource. The installation is tricky since you have to pick-and-choose the necessary files from a few different places. Harry has created a simple checklist that anyone can follow, and he's made it and his entire presentation available for downloading.

Ink

The latest GhostView, some Epson driver problems, and an inexpensive new Lexmark model fill out this month's Ink column.
