A Hearty Thank You

SCOUG's CD of the Month Is Always a Hit

by Carla Hanzlik

SCOUG's CD of the Month was launched April 17, 1999 with files that included Warp 4 FixPak 10, Java 1.1.7, the Netscape 4.04 PlugIn Pak, and Ghostscript to complement Tony Butka's Ink column.

Rollin White had been producing the very popular Disk of the Month practically since the club started. But there is so much more space on a CD than a 3.5 inch floppy. Who wouldn't want more rather than less? So, the switch to a CD of the Month was pretty much inevitable.

Each and every month, rain or shine, in sickness and in health, Rollin made sure there was a CD full of useful and requested files. It's not a quick thing to do - the behind the scenes effort is much more than you would imagine. Multiply that by 3 years of CDs and another 5-6 years of disks, and you come to realize the scale of Rollin's contribution.

At long last a new volunteer has accepted the CD challenge. Larry Tawa produced the March CD, and we hope he's ready for a long and illustrious career.

Both Rollin and Larry deserve a rousing cheer!
