No spare laptop HDDs, yet. I picked up a couple
different models of the external USB drive shells for
them at Pomona recently. Why a couple, you may ask ?
I've found that the chipsets in the ones for burners
are highly variable in terms of what they support --
or don't -- and did not want to get caught short.

Yes, DFSEE in both cases. The images definitely take
longer, due to the compression, but I can't quote #s
for you from memory. Will try to note the elapsed
time (per partition size) next time, if you're really
curious.
