Hi Steven =
Thanks for your answer and comments ;-)
I never rhought of being ignored ;-))
I also know of the difficulty of the topic ;-|
Since years the WPS built in archive tool did a perfect job =
for me and my envrionment ;-)))
The troubles with ARCinst started with my new and virgin =
installation of MCP 4.52 on my new Thinkpad T30.
At the begin I haven't changed its default path of archive.
Then with the new year coming I started customizing the =
archive path accordingly: C:\OS2\ARCHIVES\2004 ...
=2E.. and noticed that every ARCinst doesn't change =
the archiving date / time anymore ;-((
Yeah, the ARCinst savings are not that important now, =
since I do have 3 more accurate archived generations !
But within the time the ARCinst may become quite very =
obsolete and then I would like to be secure that the contents =
of it and 0X are becoming top accurate again ;-)
Well, I have some time for some more experiments ;-))
Thanks and regards, svobi

You were not being ignored. You were just forgotten. Free help is
sometimes worth just what you pay for it. :-)

As I've mentioned, I don't the builtin archive myself, so I only know
some
of its failure modes. This is a new one to me.
I would check the Archive properties in the setting notebook. Perhaps
the
pointer to the archive location is damanged.
Another thing to try is to move all the of files in \OS2\ARCHIVES
elsewhere, along with ALTF1MID.SCR and then run ARCINST. Perhaps
there's
some form of corruption that's bothering ARCINST.
Have you checked for POPUPLOGS?
Regards, Steven
