Hi Steve and Ray
As I have used already: The archives of the WPS builtin archive tool =
can be stored everywhere one has set in the properties settings in =
tab ARCHIVE (second from left) !
By default it is: C:\OS2\ARCHIVES !!
My customized settings (with 3 systems) was set to each system =
to match the file structure in my data partition D:\OS2\ARCHIVES =
and subsequently for the different systems like following:
D:\OS2\ARCHIVES\WS221\AQUA
D:\OS2\ARCHIVES\WS221\FiRE
D:\OS2\ARCHIVES\WS222\TEO
D:\OS2\ARCHIVES\WS223\SMilY
D:\OS2\ARCHIVES\WS223\MUFFEL
Like this all my archives of 3 physical systems with its 5 logical =
systems are stored safely in the data partition with very frequent =
backups ;-)
With your present discussion I also started experimenting with =
UniMaint's Desktop Backup Feature which seems much more =
easier than the WPS built in tool ...
=2E.. but I do not have any experience about the quality of its restore =
just now !?
However here to I have set the tool pathes to the DATA partition =
like following:
D:\OS2\UM51\WS221\AQUA
D:\OS2\UM51\WS221\FiRE
D:\OS2\UM51\WS222\TEO
D:\OS2\UM51\WS223\SMilY
D:\OS2\UM51\WS223\MUFFEL
plus =
D:\OS2\UM51\WSxx
for the portable DT Backup !!!

Oh you mean the Desktop archives generated by the builtin archive tool.
I'm not sure what you can do with this. The index data is stored in two
places: \OS2\ARCHIVE\ARCHIVE.$$$ and \OS2\BOOT\ALTF1MID.SCR. The former
is binary and I don't know its format and I don't know exactly what
controls what.
Best thing I can suggest is search the web are tools to control the
Desktop backup. There are a couple. And play with the Archive page of
the Desktop properties notebook and see what effect this has on these
two
files.
Regards, Steven
