I am trying to get Java communications running so that I can use
jSyncManager. I had a lot of problems with this about a year ago and
found that my Java Communications support was farkled. I have since had
to re-install and can't seem to find the right incantations.

I am running Java 1.3.1:

java version "1.3.1"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1)
Classic VM (build 1.3.1, J2RE 1.3.1 IBM build co131-20031021 (JIT
enabled: jitc)
)

Running the communications test supplied with jSyncManager gives:

The Java Communications API reports that no serial ports exist on your
system.
This fault can be caused by your BIOS serial port settings, your operating
systems serial device driver settings, or a missing or misconfigured Java
Communication API properties file. Please ensure that your system has its
serial ports enabled, your operating system is configured to use these
ports,
and that the Java Communications API is correctly installed, and try again.

The COM ports work. I can use PMFax with my Actiontec externaml modem on
either COM1 or COM2.

I have the latest Java Communications API installed.

Any suggestions? Thanks!
