For around $90, at www.pricewatch.com I found the Kingston
KNP103X 3-Port printserver which seems adequate, except
I can't find if it as a built-in http server for convenient
configuration, a worthwhile feature.

(There's a nice description of several different configurations
for network printing, with the peer-to-peer print server nearer
the bottom of the page. Nice pictures, even if small.)

There are also a couple of different "generic" print servers
at that price, and some one-port models for about two-thirds
of that price.

There's a Linksys EPSX3 EtherFast 3-port 10/100 Print Server
at $117

There's a Linksys EFSP42, Etherfast 10/100BT, 2-Port Print Server
at $126 (see, there is a 2-port model!)

As long as it had the features I need, I'd be comfortable
buying Linksys or Kingston -- they're name brands. Still, I'd
check to make sure it had the right stuff.

Perhaps someone has experience with print server models besides
the HP170x and the Digi 3400x and the built-in SMC.

The 3-port HP 500x is likely to be a first-class piece of hardware,
but bigger and more expensive ($300+). As more low-cost manufacturers
enter the market, prices are under a lot of downward pressure.
Next year, this stuff will be a lot cheaper. (But why wait?)
