Rollin,

Thanks for your help. Using the PSAT command does not give me any
insight. I saved the data output to a file and scanned the file. There
does not appear to be anything in the file that would indicate a lock up
or "in use" the D:\ drive. Incidently, now I cannot run CHKDSK C: /F:2
on the C:\ drive.

The only things that I can think of that is new on my system are the 2
programs, SYSBENCH and DISKIO. I downloaded both from the Internet to
test the performance of the Promise Ultra100 card. I cannot see,
however, how either of these 2 programs could lock up my hard drives, or
put them "in use", since I was not using either one, when I tried
CHKDSK. Also, neither program makes any changes to the CONFIG.SYS file,
..., so I cannot see how something from them is running in the
background, unknown by me.

I can run CHKDSK properly, when I boot from the OS/2 ultility floppies.

Do you have any other ideas?
