The President's Message

October 2001

by Tony Butka

Well, what with events elsewhere and the cancellation of the September meeting - lets try this again. October is now our SCOUG anniversary meeting, and we're really going to have a bang up meeting. Yes folks, it's the super duper OS/2 Install special: eComStation, Warp Server for e-Business, IBM's Convenience Pak, and an install of Warp 4 with all the FixPak goodies!

As a special treat, we have decided to start off by raffling away the chance for one of you to actually install the OS/2 version of your choice at the meeting. Our intrepid (?) group of volunteers will do the other installs (as well as be available to the raffle winner for his/her install). I'm really looking forward to seeing how this one goes, and when we're done you can see four computers that aren't subject to 99% of the viruses and worms out there on the Internet.

SCOUG has also sent an Emergency Folder to the WarpStock participants this year, courtesy of our very own Duck with a huge assist from Carla (thanks gang). Want to see what is in this spiffy Folder? Come to the meeting, because each person there gets one of these neat tools for free. That's right, your very own special SCOUG CD and tips galore for getting your system back up on that bad hair day when it crashes after your latest 'tweak'.

You really should try to make this meeting - free coffee & donuts, and an anniversary cake. And the raffle is going to be super. A brand new (as in, with warranty, unused, boxed) Xerox DocuPrint C20 printer heads the list, but there are more goodies from inkjet refill systems to a keyboard to ... well, we've got to keep some secrets. Sure hope to see you there!
