Updates from last month's column:

IBM has released an update for Java 1.1.8 as of 08/31/2000. Go to ftp://ftp.hursley.ibm.com/pub/java/fixes/os2/11/118/. According to Klaus Staedtler (staedtler-przyborski@web.de), this update fixes the bugs introduced with the 08/25/2000 update to Java 1.1.8 (some keyboard problems). WARNING: Someone on WarpCast said that if you download the OS2JRE.EXE file and install it (as opposed to RUNTIME.EXE), it will disable Java applications in Netscape 4.61 with a message "unsupported Java version." OS2JRE.EXE when installed, unpacks into a directory called JRE11 instead of JAVA11 as previous versions did. (I have not verified this; you can e-mail Robert Gammon (rgammon51@pdq.net) for more details).

IBM has released on 09/06/2000 another fix for Warp 4 FixPak 14. It is at ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/fixes/v4warp/english-us/xr_m014/. The file is KRNL0905.ZIP, and the readme file is KRNL0905.TXT.

IBM has released on 09/06/2000 a fix for JFS (Journaled File System) for Warp Server for e-Business. Go to ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/fixes/v4.5warp. The file is JFS0905.ZIP, and the readme is JFS0905.TXT.

Chris Graham has released the 17th CSD for The Graham Utilities for OS/2 version 2.00 as of 08/30/2000. This CSD is cumulative, and makes the version number 2.10.7 as a result. A new feature added is the Task Manager. Go to http://www.warpspeed.com.au/u-warp.htm. He reports that the CSD can be applied not only manually, but also via IBM's RSU method, or for Warp 3 users, via the "Retrieve Software Updates" method (which was the way to update parts of the Internet Access Kit).

MR/2 ICE has been updated as of 08/28/2000 to version 2.20a. Go to http://nick.secant.com/mr2ice.htm.

Daniela Engert has released DaniS506 version 1.3.3 and DaniATAPI version 0.3.2 as of 09/05/2000. Use search keys danis & dania on Hobbes, respectively.

The program UpdCD (a.k.a. cdupd) was updated to version 0.8 as of 10/01/2000. It now has support for Netware Requester 2.12, Warp Server for e-Business FixPak 1, Warp 4 FixPak 14, Device Driver FixPak 2, fixed a bug with TCP/IP FixPak UN_0980, and the installation CD-ROM created by this program can be made bootable. With UpdCD you can incorporate public FixPaks into your Warp 4 or Warp Server for e-Business installation CD. This allows you to install a Y2K-compliant Warp 4 or Warp Server for e-Business on systems with large hard disks right from this CD. Look for updcd08.zip on Hobbes, or go to http://xenia.sote.hu/~kadzsol/rexx/sajat/updcd.htm.

For those of you who like to play with alpha or beta versions of software, daily builds of Mozilla/Warpzilla (the successor to Netscape 4.61) are now available at ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/products/warpzilla. NOTE: you should download the zip file containing the builds to a HPFS drive as the name is quite long. Information on Mozilla is at http://www.mozilla.org/ports/os2/; a link to lists of known bugs is at this site.

Java Pilot Desktop, a Java program for interfacing with the Palm Pilot, has been updated as of 09/14/2000 to version 0.950. Go to http://www.ctag.de/projects/jpd/.
