DOWNLOAD!

by Gary Wong

SOMEWHERE IN CYBERSPACE --- Beginning this month, I'm reviving the Download! column that was previously written by Paul Wirtz. I may not actually download and try all the files, but I will give you the name of the driver or application, what it does, and where to get it.

Most of my sources will be either from WarpCast or Steve Wendt's OS/2 Warp News and Rumors page. Well, here goes...

SciTech Display Doctor is now at beta 19 (02/14/2000). To download, go to ftp://ftp.scitechsoft.com/sdd/beta/os2. Their web page is at http://www.scitechsoft.com/sdd_os2.html.

The Digital Camera Image Transfer Utility (DCITU) is now on beta version 1.8h_r2 (03/02/2000). It supports Kodak, Agfa, Epson, Olympus, Sanyo, Sierra, Nikon, Minolta, and Toshiba cameras. Information is at http://charette.dyn.tj/dcitu/; the latest release is on Hobbes - go to http://hobbes.nmsu.edu and search for dcitu.

CDR/RW Wizard is at version 0.99 beta 6; it's a GUI interface to CDRecord/2. Also released is RadioTrackFR version 1.0 beta 2; this is an AIMS Radio Track program. Both are at http://www.quasarbbs.com/rocco/.

BladeEnc version 0.92, an MP3 encoder, has been ported (03/01/2000) to OS/2. Requires the EMX runtime. You can search Hobbes (the search key is blade).

Were you at the Feb. 2000 SCOUG meeting? Kevin McCoy has updated KeyRing/2 to version 1.10. Go to http://www.idk-inc.com/kr2index.htm.

Another MP3 encoder: GOGO is based on LAME. Version 2.25 has been ported to OS/2. Go to http://homepage1.nifty.com/herumi/gogo_e.html.

InCharge, the financial management program, has been updated (02/29/2000) to version 1.02.61. Go to http://www.spitfiresoftware.com.

MIDI Station Sequencer version 2.0 Preview Edition Build 6 is now available. Also MIDI Station 1.31. Go to http://www.dinosoft.it/~midistation/.

Qu/2 is a new audio player for WAV and MP3 files. It's version 0.99c-pre2. Go to http://oksoft.rsl.ru/projects/qu2/; the web page is in Russian, but the program has English menus.

There is a port of the 3Dfx Voodoo1 and Voodoo2 Glide2 drivers (versions 2.46 and 2.53, respectively). Go to http://www.guisoft-corp.com/3dfx/.

Audio/Data-CD-Creator version 0.38 (02/23/2000) is available. Go to http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Sector/5785/creator/creatormain.htm.

For those of you who use eBay, there's eBayWatch/2, version 0.09b. Go to http://www.eclipse.net/~knkrchnr/. It's meant to aid you in searching for, monitoring, and bidding on auction items.

Got a Download! suggestion for Gary? He'd love to hear from you!
