On the web, content is king. Far more important than glitzy graphics, content makes people come back again and again.

Let's see how this month's chosen web sites measure up:

Ratings
Info
Content Links Glitz Type Site (url) and Comments
A+ B   C+ XML IBM XML (http://www.software.ibm.com/xml/).  Extensible Markup Language is coming, and IBM already has tutorials.
B   A   A   OS/2 The 13th Floor (http://www.tstonramp.com/~freiheit/os2.shtml).  Stop here and learn something, courtesy of Don "Freiheit" Eitner.
A   B   B   Internet Cable Modems and OS/2 (http://www.idk-inc.com/cablemodem.htm).  For the speed mavens of TCP/IP, here's some info on sharing one modem with multiple machines (and multiple OS's).
B+ A   B- Software PillarSoft (http://www.fm-net.com/pillarsoft/).  WarpZip, Enhanced E Editor, ShowTime/2.
C+ D   B- Software InnoVal (http://www.innoval.com/).  Several OS/2 products, but perturbed Duck finds not one demo version.
B- F   C   Finance In Charge! (http://rampages.onramp.net/~landeck/).  Financial software.  Balance your checkbook.  Free demo.
B   C   B   OS/2 My Best OS/2 Software Collection (this site has retired; link removed March 2001 at site author's request).  Tuomas "Tumppi" Angervuori is 18, lives in Finland, uses the software he describes here, and has a good looking site.
B   C   C+ IRC The EZirc Home Page (http://www.gryn.org/ezirc/).  Here's a free Internet Relay Chat program that's surprisingly robust.
A   F   C   Globe WarpGlobe Project (http://www.arrakis.es/~scostas/OS2/globeeng.htm).  Cute program.  Screenshots are at the very bottom of the page.
B   C- B- OS/2 ERA Computer Consulting's OS/2 Specific Files, Links and Such (http://www.townsendsupply.com/era/OS2Stuff.htm).  A good start on what should become an excellent page.  Check out the Desktop Backup files.

This month's Duck Feather

Ooh, less than 12 months to the Year 2000 meltdown.  Check your BIOS manufacturer's home page for info on your motherboard --- some BIOS chips just don't, shall we say, handle the 2K mark with grace.

AMI (http://www.megatrends.com) has free Year 2000 BIOS Check software, Award (http://www.award.com) has a Year 2000 Solution on their Technical Support page, and Phoenix (http://www.ptltd.com) has info starting at their Support Reference link (try Desktop PC BIOS and then choose the section II.4 link).
