Q. Dear Mr. Know-It-All,
I tried to boot from the command line with Alt-F1 and my system hangs while booting. This used to work. What happened?
A. When you boot from the command line, Warp boots using \OS2\BOOT\CONFIG.X. Most likely you added a device to your system that requires special command line switches. For example, you might have added a large IDE drive that requires /!BM on IBM1S506. Check your \CONFIG.SYS and update \OS2\BOOT\CONFIG.X to match and you should be able to use Alt-F1 again.
Q. Dear Mr. Know-It-All,
I tried to install Lotus SmartSuite for OS/2 and it claims I don't have the correct fixpak installed. I am running FixPak 9. What's wrong?
A.
You are running 4OS2 or some other command line replacement. SmartSuite for OS2 uses an older version of IBM's Software Installer which checks for fixpak level by issuing a VER /R command and evaluates the command's output to determine the fixpak level. 4OS2 and some other command line replacements generate output that differs sufficiently to confuse the Installer.
Consider the differences. CMD.EXE's output for FixPk 9 would be:

On-the-other-hand, 4OS2's output would be something like:

for use on a single computer. May not be distributed to others

To avoid this problem, start a CMD.EXE session and run the SmartSuite install from this session.
