SCOUG OS/2 For You - June 1998

SCOUG's Web Site:
The Next Generation

by Rollin White

In an effort to improve the quality, visibility, and accessibility of the SCOUG web site, we've made some significant changes to it. These changes were influenced by the feedback you have provided on the web site survey as well as through email.

We have eliminated the frames on the web site. While frames have some important uses, they encumber the use of bookmarks on web browsers. In its place there is a "pane" or column down the left side of each web page. Within this pane are links to those pages that are frequently accessed. Also in the left pane are exclusive features of the web site such as WebFoot and Terry's & Dave's Programming for the Net series.

There are other significant changes as well. You can always access a list of the most recent documents - so that you can read the new contributions as they are made. When it seems warranted, a short description of the article is included as an overview, to help you decide if it's something that's interesting to you. We've also created short profiles about the authors which are combined with a list of all of the articles each has written - linked so you can reach them easily. Want to re-read the interview Peter did with Don Baker? Just go to Peter's author profile.

These changes are taking place right now. Visit www.scoug.com and look around. Then be sure to email your suggestions and comments to me at Rollin@SCOUG.com. We really do listen!
