SCOUG OS/2 For You - January 1998

OS/2 Everywhere? WorkSpace On-Demand in January!

You've read about it here and elsewhere. But this month our own Paul Wirtz will give us a special demonstration of this new product and concept in computing. Paul is on the technical support staff at Volt Information Sciences in Orange, CA, and has been working closely with IBM in a special rollout of the new WorkSpace On-Demand (WSOD).

We'll have a network set up and Paul will demonstrate the use of WSOD. He'll show us how it might be used, and why you would want to use it. Along those lines, he'll be demonstrating the use of several applications under WSOD.

WSOD is IBM's latest direction for OS/2, so this presentation is likely to be one of the most interesting and thought-provoking of the year. You can also find out about WorkSpace On-Demand on the Web at:

www.software.ibm.com/os/warp/workspace/

After the presentation, we'll have a question and answer period for those things that have been bugging you. And, a raffle. Then it's on to the SIGs:

General Interest - will walk through the steps of choosing, installing, and updating drivers for video cards.

Networking - will continue the discussion of WorkSpace On-Demand presented at the main meeting.

Programming -will be looking at using LotusScript and REXX in the Lotus SmartSuite for Warp4.

Later in the month, the Internet SIG (Jan. 26th at 7 PM) will be looking at the issues of data warehousing. Time permitting, they'll also consider HTML 4 and spam.
