OS/2 pipes, unlike UNIX, are inherently bidirectional. The API functions
are:

 DosCallNPipe
 DosClose
 DosCreateNPipe
 DosConnectNPipe
 DosDisConnectNPipe
 DosDupHandle
 DosOpen
 DosPeekNPipe
 DosQueryNPHState
 DosQueryNPipeInfo
 DosQueryNPipeSemState
 DosRead
 DosResetBuffer
 DosSetNPHState
 DosSetNPipeSem
 DosTransactNPipe
 DosWaitNPipe
 DosWrite

There are REXX libraries that provide access to these API's.

Queues and pipe are not the same. I RTFM. The API fuctions are:

 DosCloseQueue
 DosCreateQueue
 DosOpenQueue
 DosPeekQueue
 DosPurgeQueue
 DosQueryQueue
 DosReadQueue
 DosWriteQueue
