SL> 'test8 'Qnew' > test9.txt'

Tried this.
It produces a 'SYS1803 Chaining was attempted from a ReXX batch file.' error.
(Until it is preceeded with 'CALL'.)

SL>

Tried this.
It doesn't seem to output anything to test9.txt.
Same thing with the CALL inbetween '/c' and test8.

SL>

Definitly not the case, I don't have any such function - besides, CALL is
internal to CMD.EXE....
The CALL doesn't seem to make any difference.

Here's what I tried after getting the above post,
and what worked, but there are still questions:

/* ReXX */

/* TEST7.CMD */
'@find " " \config.sys | rxqueue /FIFO '

Qnew = RXQUEUE('create', 'NOISSES')

SAY Qnew
CALL Rxqueue 'set', Qnew
/*
'RXQUEUE 'Qnew' /CLEAR'
'RXQUEUE 'Qnew' /FIFO */
CALL Rxqueue 'set', 'SESSION'

DO WHILE ( Queued() >< 0 )

inline1 = LineIn( 'QUEUE:' )

Qold = RXQUEUE('set', Qnew)
/*
QUEUE 'Test.....'
QUEUE inline1
*/
call LineOut 'QUEUE:', inline1

trash = RXQUEUE('set', Qold)

END

/*
Qold = RXQUEUE('set', Qnew)
*/
Qold = RXQUEUE('set', 'NOISSES')
SAY 'Qnew is 'Qnew
SAY 'Qold is 'Qold

'pause & call test8.cmd 'Qnew' '

/*
'start /c test8 'Qnew' > test9.txt '
trash = RXQUEUE('delete', Qnew)
*/
call RXQUEUE 'delete', Qnew
call RXQUEUE 'delete', Qold

'dir test9.txt'

EXIT

###############################################################
/* ReXX */

/* test8.cmd */

PARSE UPPER ARG Qgiven

/*
SAY 'Given: 'Qgiven
Qold = RXQUEUE('Create', Qgiven)
SAY Qold
SAY Qold
Qold = RXQUEUE('Set', Qgiven )
Qold = RXQUEUE('Set', 'NOISSES' )
*/

SAY 'Given: 'Qgiven
Qtest = RXQUEUE('Get')
SAY 'Active: 'Qtest
Qold = RXQUEUE('Set', Qgiven )
/* ######### This seems to be the sticking point:
a variable here doesn't seem to work,
but if I hard code 'NOISSES' in here,
the set of programs seem to work:
Qold = RXQUEUE('Set', 'NOISSES' )
Steve L. (or anyone else lurking out there) -
any idea why this has to be hard coded?
Is there some other error elsewhere I'm missing?
I tried putting 'INTERPRET' infront of this, with the idea
that maybe some subtle indirection was getting missed, but
an 'incorrect function call' error still happens.
Is it possible that this is something to prevent queue misdirections,
that they have to be hard coded?
*/

Qtest = RXQUEUE('Get')
SAY 'Active: 'Qtest

SAY 'Queued: 'Queued()
'pause'

DO WHILE ( Queued() >< 0 )

inline1 = LineIn( 'QUEUE:' )
call lineout 'STDOUT:', inline1
/*
SAY inline1
*/
END

call RXQUEUE 'delete', Value(Qgiven)
call RXQUEUE 'set', Qold
EXIT
