You hit the problem!
I stuck a line:

Qnew=Strip(Qnew)

in my test7, and it started working.
Still doodling around with the thing to learn more about
what is going on, and will keep you posted.
I've been able to 'CALL' a pipeline that starts with
test8.cmd, but not 'start' one, and still don't understand why
the Qnew has the space appended to it.
