Spare laptop HDDs? USB shells? Are you planning to use laptop HDDs in
a USB case? You can, but it is a lot of money just to save a little space.

Burners? The only burners I know anything about is opticals. What are
you referring to?

I have one IDE case that had a 200G I have two IDE/SATA combo cases
that each have a 200G SATA. Those all work, but that is my only experience.

I just don't see any advantage to compression. Back when HDDs were
expensive, yes. And how do you retrieve a single file if you want it?
