I hooked it up again, and it does not fail this time. I get 192.168.1.100 which
is as expected. I don't know what was wrong before. I re-installed the "bad"
cable around the front of the desk this time since I didn't want to thread it
through the other cables between the desk and the wall. I had tried it MANY
times before with failures every time. All I can to is chalk it up to the
"Twilight Zone"!

If it happens again, I will try the trace...
