The are more like recovery versions than backups. I'm not exactly sure
when the browser will decide to create these, but it is definitely after
some unexpected event.
If they don't have anything you need, you can delete them or save them
away somewhere until you are sure you will not need them.
If you think you have lost bookmarks, you can always try to find them in
the saved versions.
