What's your definition of mounted? If you mean that it has a drive letter
assigned, that's a job split between os2dasd.cmd and os2lvm.dmd.
You probably need to speak to your leader, because the information you got
from him is basically bogus.

Not true. Any volume with an installed IFS will get a drive letter.
