Colin,
I don't think that hypothesis is going to hold up.
The line in both the 1.2R and the 2.0b installs
*stops* at =USBMSD.ADD. And the behaviors are
different (and vs. 1.2GA), just as I described.

The Alert box pops up in 1.2R, but not in the others.
A memory stick is detected right away (NO Refreshes
required) in 1.2R and 2.0b, but *not* with 1.2GA.
*All* of these require jiggling the device in the
socket before the light will come on. (That is *not*
the case with W2K.) Adjusting the USBMSD line in
1.2GA hasn't made a difference.
I can't compare the detections of ext. USB HDD at the
moment, because I don't have any ready for hookup
right now that have FAT-16 or HPFS partitions on them.
Never had much luck with the FAT-32 or NTFS drivers.
