Steven,
I enjoyed the meeting even though it was obvious to me that I knew much
less about os/2 than those attending.
I tried your suggestion for getting a log of the sysrestr by booting to
the command line and putting this there:
H:\unifiles\sysrestr > stdout.log 2stdout.log
The screen was blank so I pressed the enter and other keys several times
because I know there are pauses in sysrestr.cmd.
I got this in the stdout.log:
This CMD File MUST NOT be run while PM and WPS are active.
If you have not booted from a floppy or have interrupted the Boot
before PM is started, then you MUST terminate this run of the CMD
file
and Boot from a floppy or Reboot and use Alt-F1 and C (Warp 3)
or F2 (Warp 4 to get to an OS/2 Command Prompt.
Hit CTRL-BREAK to terminate and try again.
Hit any other key to continue...
Press any key when ready . . .
H:\UNIFILES\SYSBCK2stdout.log.ZIP - File Not Found
Generation 2stdout.log cannot be found, you must try again with a
different generation.
The generation number must be 2 characters, so generation 1
must be entered as 01.
Press any key when ready . . .
There was no 2stdout.log file.
I tried to get control of my pc again, but finally had to shut it off.
When I turned it on again and booted as usual (using the current
config.sys), the screen went blank after the boot manager screen and my
screen which lists the choices for booting. Then there was an "out of
frequency" notice and I had to shut my pc off again.
I used Tedit to edit config.sys by changing set c1=sddgradd to set
c1=gengradd and renaming c:\os2\svgadata.pmi to c:\os2\svgaorig.xxx (as
Scitech recommends) and shut down again.
When I rebooted (using the current config.sys), I got my desktop but the
monitor is set at scitech doctor and 256 colors.
Will you please tell me what did I did wrong and how I correct it?
Regards,
Jack
