This was never the case prior to 7.05 (7.03 ?) -- 
whenever it was that Jan introduced the USB 
capability.  Could it be that you are using his 
USB-equipped version without realizing it ? 
If you are talking about an Ext USB HDD & just plain 
DOS, I'd have to see that.  Will try this with the 
shuttle, next I get the chance.
