I have been using MALI2WEB extensively for this, and
it seems to be able to access most mail accounts.
However, it cannot access my few-months-old SBC Yahoo
account . . . perhaps due to an issue like the one you
mention, even though this is not a free account. So,
as with this reply from that account, I am using their
proprietary web mail interface.
