No card detected is a bad this.  It says the the status utility is having  
trouble talking to the card.  Why this would be intermittent, I can only  
guess.  
 
Have you tried:  
 
  ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/wlan/xwlan112.zip  
 
yet?  If so, what were the results?  If not, just start with the  
standalone executable.  This monitor is much more capable than the IBM  
supplied utility.  I do recommend you back up your RESOLV files before  
using it.  I've had some issues with older version and have not yet  
assigned blame to this effect.  
 
Keep in mind that you might need to select the radio channel manually when  
using eCS.  
 
As always, I recommend you post:  
 
  protocol.ini  
  setup.cmd  
  lantran.log  
 
unless you want folks to have to guess about your tcp/ip and nic setup.
