How long ago, John ? Version 4 or 5 ? If so, not too relevant.

Zipping or XCopying will miss certain things. This topic has come up at meetings.
I used to have pretty decent success with Drive Image. The older versions I had
stopped working for Win-32 _after_ NT-4 (corrupted, unusable Restores), most
likely because of successive MS changes to the NTFS partitioning spec, and
probably some changes in techniques used by their SAM (the security and
installed-OS registration / identifier) module. I have not tried more recent
versions of DI, to see if those issues ever got resolved.

Just did so recently, a few times. Working inside the small Shuttle box is a bit
of a pain, because the space is so tight inside, and the cable runs are very
short. But I did connect the spare drive after partition cloning, booted the
affected partitions (as well as the other bootable ones), ran several app.s.
Everything I tried seemed to work normally, and the spare drive was now as up to
date as the regular drive, in terms of service packs, installed app.s, etc.
