I've been using Internet Adventurer for mail and newsgroups since
about 1997, and even though it's no longer being developed or
supported I've liked the way it works well enough to stick with it.
Now, my new ISP requires SMTP "authentication" (apparently sending a
password with uploaded e-mails), and this seems to be something that
Internet Adventurer doesn't do.

Do we have any Internet Adventurer experts on board that might know a
way to work around this problem?

Since this problem surfaced, I've tried Innoval's PostRoad Mailer and
Nick Knight's MR2-ICE, and may try PMMail/2.

PostRoad Mailer also seems unable to "authenticate" outgoing mail.

MR2-ICE apparently "authenticates"; but poses some significant
problems of
its own that are putting me off. (I'm still trying--even using it
to post this
   e-mail.)

Are there any other suggestions/recommendations? Is PMMail/2 a
possible solution?

A few of the features I've grown attached to in Internet Adventurer
include:
  Message threading.
Display message directory and message contents simultaneously.
Single-click opening of messages without need to close previous
ones.
Ability to view graphics attached to e-mails.
Ability to sort and retain messages in folders by subject matter.
Identical access to mail and newsgroup messages.
