Suggestions:
(1) Make the backups simple;
(2) Mix and match different cloned partitions is simple to do but somewhat
more difficult to keep track of; (3) Given the backup scheme as *you* have
described; what is difficult about wiping then cloning the drive?; use the
backup monitor, wipe in the AM and then clone at night when home from
work. (4) Label the backups;
(5) Frankly, I would take the bother/time to just do it.
(6) Bottom line: make the backups simple.
