There were some intermittent server problems beginning the morning of
Fri 10Sep and continuing through the morning of Mon 13Sep. I *think*
it's working okay now.

The longest downtime was from about 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening to about 10
a.m. Monday morning. I'm not sure of the cause and I've added an extra
logger (ref: TSGS) in case it happens again.

There were 7 .msg loops and 5 .que loops running simultaneously when
Randell and Carla did a hard reboot Monday morning. The .msg loops are
instigated (afaik) by malformed spam; the .que loops are instigated
(afaik) by technical problems at the mail servers of some list members.
Hopefully the move from InetMail to Weasel will stop the looping.

Posts sent to SCOUG while the server is down are queued by SMTP servers
"along the way" (typically either at your ISP or at a service named
ZoneEdit) and they do eventually reach SCOUG.

When you see time periods on the SCOUG lists which have no messages it
might be because the SCOUG list server is set up to change the date-time
of each message to the time when the list server processes the message.
This can really mess up the sequence of your received messages when 1) a
message is delayed "along the way" or 2) if the SCOUG server's clock is
set incorrectly. I added a clock synchronizer (OS2NTPD) to the server a
few months ago so the clock should always be on time (Daylight Saving
boundaries can be a little weird for a few minutes while it resyncs) but
the "new timestamp" process can still cause confusion since the message
may be restamped to several hours after you sent it. If you want to see
the original date-time stamp of a SCOUG list message, look in the header
for the X-OldDate line.
