The "workaround" wouldn't work immediately because I don't have a local partition large enough to handle the file. I don't think size is the only problem because the same thing happens with a small sample file from the db. The *.dbf file is 1.6gb. As a last resort I'll have to rearrange data and partitions to free up space somewhere. Before that I'll try to save a small file to a local partition to be sure that works.

I that doesn't work I'll mess with trace and send you the result.
