Yes, Ray Davison told me how to do this.
There's a little bitty box that you can click on at the upper left where
the sender-subject-time titles are. If you click on that it switches
between threaded and unthreaded. I don't have Mozilla 1.7 on my machine
any more so I can't give you "better" details, but it's easy to find.
