OK -- I made some progress.
First of all, I was running the wrong command. After doing a little more
poking around, I found a "Setup.exe" command in one of the subdirectories.
That one worked fine.
Now I am having trouble upgrading the program. Quicken still supports
Quicken 98, and it has a "RC-3" upgrade, which can only be installed
online. Whenever I try to access the online upgrade facility, I get an
error message "unable to locate server." Quicken uses an old 16 bit
version of Internet Explorer, which I installed and can actually use to
connect with the internet. However, it gives repeated error messages about
being unable to find files connected with something called Winsock.
So even tho IE eventually connects with the WWW, it won't let Quicken get
thru to the upgrade site. I think if I can figure out a way to get rid of
the Winsock error messages, I might be able to upgrade the program.
If it would be helpful, I can write down the specific error messages and
post them.
Thanks,
Sandy
