I'm not yet sure if this was the right thing to do. Usually the problem
winsock.dlls are name winsock.dll. That said, you still have other issues
to solve first.

You need to keep the SET. Some apps need this value defined.

Unless you have a reason not to, you might as well. Think a bit about
what files the ETC directory contains. What's important is that files
like RESOLV and RESOLV2 contain correct values, regardless of where they
are stored.

I'll see what the web has to say about this one when I have a bit more
time.

Not every site responds to ping. Try www.sbc.net and www.comcast.com. I
know they respond.
