I plan to install my >programs on E:\, perhaps, which will be a JFS/LVM volume. > >LVM gives a lot of flexibility! >HCM Coffee is brewing so couple more thoughts. (1) Recommended that the size of eCS 1.1 boot partition needs to be greater or equal to 1.0 GB; any larger and booting that HPFS partition will take much longer. I use a 1.0 GB eCS 1.1 boot partition on a logical partition "E". (2) Install eCS 1.1 GA on a logical partition rather than directly on a primary partition; that way if you image or clone the system, IIRC but have *not* yet tested, the image or clone should be more "stable"???? Stable in this sense may not be the correct reference but you get the point. (3) This one is plus/minus since you will be using LVM. Reserve drive letter "C" and "D" for later use - just in case you install Windows or another OS at a much later time that requires drive letter "C" Of course since you are using LVM, should not go back to FDISK. (4) As I am sure that you know the exact size of your non-boot partitions and placement. (5) Create a CD or floppy or some other removable "disk" with the eCS 1.1 GA registration key; include other key programs on this CD. More later.
