During the failed eCS 1.1 install something changed. Formerly I booted to
Win98 OEM install directly. After a while I could install IBM BM from
MiniLVM and have options at boot-time. Or if during testing I deleted
the IBM BM I would boot directly into Win98 on power-up, as before.
However something changed and now I have to have IBM BM installed or I get
I9990305. My workaround after sending above message was to google on
the error code and learn it meant I had no bootable partition. I put
my eCS 1.1 install CD back in, installed the BM, and at least Win98
now still works. (My daughter can do her homework again, also chat with
friends :)
Thanks to all for your help. We are thrashing this out with vigor on
the eComStation list. No results yet. Something bad is definitely
going on. Some have clues. One poster has suggested using DFSee
which I am keen to do, but I don't know what to do as I have never
used this program. If some experienced hand can give me step-by-step
instructions, I will run and forward the log to whoever volunteers. It
appears we have in my sad little 600E an ideal testbed for a problem a
lot of people are having.
