Yes -- that worked! Steven, you amaze me.
I found a utility called DXMAID (or something like that) that installed
the LAN drivers so I can successfully boot into DOS 5.0.
However, I thought that once I did that, I could use Win 3.1's IE to
update Quicken, but Win 3.1 does not find the Network connection. My
reading of the docs suggests that the 3com adapter requires WFW or higher.
But I would think Win 3.1 would not need a network adapter and would
connect directly thorough DOS, much like Winos2 connects without a network
connection being installed.
Anyhow, if I have to reinstall Quicken 98 at some point, I think it will
work OK without the upgrade.
