Svobi,

First, thanks I got my new Hawking Technology HPS3P Printserver (One IP
---> 3 Parallel Ports) with your help and also with Sheridan's article on
a Hawking Tecnology Single Port Print Server on the SCOUG server. Why 3
Ports? - I need only 2 right now. The 3 port model costs slightly less
than 2 times the 1 port version. Each parallel port on the HPS3P is
labeled either LPT1, LPT2, and LPT3.

I could not successfully arp the HPS3P; so I cheated - I went to Windows
used the included CD, set the IP and then I can now access the HPS3P via
eCS. Why did I buy two of these print servers. Since I manage two
families computers, I prefer to work with the same components - lower
learning curve.

Why could I not arp initially? I didn't find Sheridan's article until he
pointed this out to me at the 2/04 SCOUG meeting. Turns out that I was
not putting the ":" (the colon marks) in the MAC address. Urggg.

Since I manage the computers for the two families (my extended family), I
have decided to attempt standardization on the same components. Ex.
Vantech VA4-C7040 cpu fan, ASUS A7N8X motherboard, etc. Of course, I look
for sales: bought the rounded FD/ATA cables - several packs and some of
them *glow* in the dark. Wow.

Each of the two families have a legal copy of eCS 1.1 with application
pack, thanks to the specials provided earlier by Serenity Systems - my
grand experiment that shows that eComStation, aka eCS, can be used by the
general public. I really think that with Open Office, the usability by
the general public increases.

Again, to minimize the learning curve.

I am glad that your T30 is doing well.

Regards.

Larry
