Louis,
This is not really responsive to your current problem, because I have
not yet purchased the eCS Application Pack for eCS 1.1 (eCS 1.2 is
coming very soon, and SCOUG may get a discount on the OS and Apps).

However, I did install the SmartSuite 1.6 from the eCS 1.0 CDs, and,
consulting my notes from January, this gave me problems until I copied
the file(s) from the CD to my hard drive, and installed from there. This
doesn't sound as if it's of much use in helping with your problem. Don't
forget, that there is an eCS News Server at "news.ecomstation.nl", and a
group called "ecomstation.support.smartsuite" where you can also get help.

Finally, I wanted to say that I'm having good luck with OpenOffice for
Word Processing, at least. I've just recently created and sent a couple
of documents created under OpenOffice, and saved as ".doc" (MS Word
format), which the recipient told me were readable and printable using
MS Word. I did the creation by opening SmartSuite 1.6 version of the
document, and using Copy and Paste into OpenOffice.

Given the widespread use of MS Office, this may expand your audience if
your work includes sharing documents with the MicroSoft world. (Tony
Butka has an Ink article on this subject on the SCOUG Web site,
www.scoug.com.

Hope this helps,
Colin Campbell
