I don't know what to tell you here! I just placed my ECS bootAble CD-RW (it's a data
CD-RW) into my Windows 98 computer. I can read it just fine. I created it on my ECS
computer, using bootAble software, RSJ and my Yamaha CD-R/CD-RW/CD unit. I read
it in a CD, only, unit (because I was formatting another CD-RW in the other unit on
Windows 98; it took 20 minutes to format over there in Windows 98; I don't like that!).

Next, I took the CD-RW that I had just formatted (using Roxio) in Windows 98 and
dragged some data files onto it, using Windows Explorer. Then I ejected it. Roxio read
as follows:

The CD you just ejected from drive (E:) is now readable in all CD-RW drives,
and any MultiRead CD-ROM that has the UDF Reader installed.

I took the CD-RW over to my ECS machine. I placed the CD-RW in my read-only drive
unit. It read just fine. I cannot read it, however, in my CD-R/CD-RW/CD unit, despite what
Roxio said. Also, RSJ could not attach to it. RSJ gave me a CRC error. I believe that the
problem here is that Roxio creates CD-RW disks, using the UDF filesystem, only. And
RSJ uses the CDFS filesystem and that is incompatible with UDF

Now, I've noticed that Roxio WILL create a CD-R (write only), using the CDFS
filesystem, if you direct it to do so. And those can be read anywhere on OS/2 or ECS,
which use CDFS. Roxio will not create a CD-RW in CDFS, however. STRANGE!

I have UDF on my ECS box and that's why I can read the Roxio created disk. But I have
to use my CD-ROM (read-only) unit.

If you have been creating CD's using the UDF filesystem over in Windows and then
trying to read them over in OS/2 without UDF installed, that's your problem.

SOLUTIONS:
1. Install UDF on your OS/2-ECS system

2. Write the CD in CDFS, only, over in Windows
HCM

PS:
As a last step I used RSJ to "erase and format" the CD-RW, that I previously created
using Roxio and Windows 98. Then I "attached" it, using RSJ. The following things
occurred:

1. The "erase and format" only took about 5 seconds
2. I can fully and complete read the CD-RW in my CD-RW/CD-R/CD unit,
if I use the drive letter (T) obtained from Daniela's back door
3. I can only partially read the CD-RW, if I use the drive letter (Z) from
attaching with RSJ

INTERESTING!!
