I am strongly suggesting that you try it exactly the way that I explained it to Peter:  
 
	1.	Clean with UniMaint  
	2.	Close UniMaint/Do NOTHING ELSE AT ALL  
	3.	Wait until the OS writes to the OS2*.INI files  
	4.	Open UniMaint and reset the desktop  
	5.	Use Checkini, then Cleanini  
 
I know that works! I does for me. I had exactly Peter's problem (the cleaning not   
sticking).
