The delete key is apparently mapped to the cancel function.
Just mark the messages as read and tell Mozilla only to display the unread
messages. Silly, but that's the way it is supposed to work.
There appears to be no way to prune the old messages out of the index
files (i.e. *.msf). I don't know if this is intended or if it's just an
unfinished feature.
Also, it appears that you can't read by thread and hide the read messages.
Oh well.
FWIW, there were quite a few changes to news between v1.5 and v1.6.
