Your subject/URL got truncated, I think.  
 
Just about any 2.5", 12.5mm height or smaller drive will fit   
a Thinkpad 600 series, including yours and my 600E. Mine came   
with a 9.5mm drive and I think I would prefer to stay with   
the slimmer form factor.  But half-inch (thick) drives WILL fit.   
 
If buying new, I'd be inclined to buy 7200rpm with the biggest cache   
available (currently 8MB) to maximize the speed of my aging laptop.   
 
A colleague recently did so and reports the improvement was so   
noticeable, that he thought he'd be able to postpone buying a   
new laptop for another year or two.
