That is a good reason to get a Thinkpad. You might get one of the first
delivered from China. ;-)
What you should buy really depends on what you want to do with it. With
laptops, Thinkpads included, RAM and disk capacity are generally based on
the needs of a Windows install. An eCS install requires much less
capacity, as you have found.
The price you pay is basically proprotional to performance.

Can't hurt. I'm sure Jerry can steer you to a model that is known to work
well with eCS.
