I just heard back from Aaron (he was in Greece at some sporting event).
He says he is using the exact same editor as E.exe, he just wrote "a
nicer wrapper around it" (his words). The editor code is something he
calls "the standard PM multi-line edit control" with its line-length
limitations.
Regarding adding an error message on "long" lines, Aaron says the PM
editor control loads 32K chunks of the file and AE does not know how
long the individual lines are.
I guess you could write a new PM edit control . . .
Anyway, AE and E have the same limitations imposed by the PM edit
control. Aaron says he doesn't understand why his AE removes a file's
extended attributes because all he's doing is rewriting the file.
