What's gives you that idea. All he says is you can't use Java 1.1.8 as
the plugin JVM.

I can see why. It seems you are making it up as you go rather than
reading what the page says:

This is a statement of what Java versions the page understands.

Then there has a box where you can click to get the plugin followed by the
text:

This page tests to see if the JVM? is working on your computer. This test
applet, written with Java? technology, displays information about your
operating system, the JVM and the Java? 2 Runtime Environment, Standard
Edition (JRE) version.

If you can see the dancing Duke logo? image animated in the applet above,
then the JRE is functioning correctly. Sample screenshots are shown below.

This is telling you what will happen if your Java plugin is working. Note
the use of the word "sample" in the last sentence.

Oh, I suspect I know the problem. You didn't view it with epm.

No. It means it wants you install a JVM that will work with Mozilla.
