Harry,
Here is my idea. You can right click on the Desktop, and bring up a
"drop down" menu. Under View, you can Select All. Then you can use
Arrange to move the icons about (maybe selecting Perimeter, for
example). This ought to make the Trashcan icon reappear if it is hidden
somewhere.
