Further to my message yesterday, I have now verified that
the freeze occurs as follows
1-Open ap such as (at least) PMMail
2-Open EPM from command prompt
3-Cut/paste ASCII text from PMMail to EPM
4-Print raw ASCII text from EPM to default printer
5-Return to source message in open ap (e.g. PMMail)
At the moment the focus returns to the source message
the system freezes even though the printing continues.
I'd welcome ideas as to how to fix this very serious
problem or else what further diagnostic steps I should
take.

Until yesterday my new eCS 1.1 install was stable but
now three times the kbd/trackpoint have become nonresponsive
and I have had to cold-boot. However printing continues
despite this non-responsiveness noted.
How can I diagnose what is causing this fault?
Thanks for any ideas.
