It's easy to make assumptions. Did any of them try it and fail?

No one's perfect and no one individual has perfect information. Did you
ask him if he knew of anyone that was using a setup with the components
you wanted to use? IAC, I try to filter all the information I get with a
bit of common sense. I should hope others do the same with my posts too.
